Yesterday the entire school community came together to celebrate Halloween with little ghouls, dinosaurs, princesses, and police (and so many more creative creatures!) roaming the hallways of NIS! It was a day of tricks AND treats with traditional trick-or-treating around the school, a secret door leading to a haunted house, games galore, musical entertainment, and food, food, food! The Halloween festival was a culmination of weeks of preparation by secondary students who received support from the staff and FSA (Family-Staff Association).
And that is the point; there were a lot of chills, thrills, and shrills of frightful fun, but this traditional cultural celebration was made extra special because, behind all the glitter and gore, there were students planning and collaborating, creating and cooperating. This fun event was steeped in learning and service. It is a service to their community when the Secondary students plan how the day should go and what games and activities will enthrall their smaller classmates but it also affects the wider community with proceeds going to support their club activities for the year.
Here is just a taste of the fun had by all. Be sure to check out all the photos HERE!
